Quarry species to be found on Fenland, both on the Foreshore and Inland
It is very important that members are able to correctly identify legal quarry species both for their own peace of
mind and for the sake of the sport, especially in the current political climate. It is just as important that
we are seen to be responsible both in the manner in which we conduct ourselves and in our attitude to our
environment. Therefore as a club we have introduced this guide as an aid for our members and we will be
updating the information, when possible and where necessary.
Ducks:
Surface Feeders: These duck are also known as dabbling duck, feed in the shallows often up ending to reach food
and they also graze on land.
Divers:
These duck are more often found in the deeper water and obtain their food by diving from
the surface.
Geese:
The principle quarry species from amongst the grey geese are the greylag and the pinkfoot goose.
In England and Wales the European whitefront may legitimately be shot but in Scotland visited by the Greenland race,
whitefronts are protected. In addition to grey geese the Canada goose may be shot throughtout the British Isles.
